Children at CTK

As a church that is passionate about reaching the next generation with the good news of God’s grace, children are important to us. Our goal is simple: to help parents fulfill their God-given responsibility to raise their children for Him (Deuteronomy. 6:6-7; Ephesians 6:4).

Nursery

Our nursery is available for infants and toddlers up through age 3. If a child is not yet ready for “big church” or Young Worshippers, we will do our best to accommodate him or her; but it is our desire for children to transition to our Young Worshippers Children’s service or the adult worship service by age 4. However, we know every child and situation is different. We are here to partner with and support parents as they raise their children to know the God who welcomes them into the arms of his Son.

Young Worshippers

We offer a separate worship service for children ages 3-8 years old during the sermon portion of our worship service. This allows the children to still participate in the formative parts of the worship service with their family while receiving age-appropriate teaching. It’s purpose is three-fold: 1) to help young children make the transition from the nursery into “big church;” 2) to allow the parents of young children to give their full attention to the ministry of the Word; 3) to provide age-appropriate discipleship for young children. We encourage any children who want to participate to do so!

Children in Worship

While we do provide a Nursery for infants and toddlers and also also a children’s worship service for ages 3-8, we welcome parents to bring their children to “big church” as soon as possible. Many families have different preferences on where they would choose for their children to worship during our service and we want you to find the right fit for you and your children. We know some things will go over their head; but this gives them something to reach for and teaches them far more than they miss. It is important for children to see their parents worship. We want our children to hear the Word of God preached, to see baptisms and communion, and to sing along with God’s people. Your children will not be viewed as a nuisance or distraction. Small movements and little noises will not bother us.

Safety

Safety comes first in the children’s ministry at Christ the King. You will see this reflected in our policies, practices, and prayers. As we see it, your child’s safety is ensured by accountability for volunteers and workers, clean and safe classrooms, behavior guidelines for children, and close partnership with parents. When it comes to your child’s safety, we believe there is no room for error. Please ask one of our children’s leaders for a copy of our safety policy.
